Hella Bitter Bitters
So after much anticipation, my bitters kit came in the mail today just after dinner. I’ve made bitters before, but this was clearly a kit designed by experts with little or no margin for error. All the tools, rules, and step-by-step directions where there in the very cleverly designed box.
I deviated from the basic recipe but still followed their recipe for the advance “crafty” type of bitters. For the aromatic herbs I added two cinnamon sticks as suggested, along with Rittenhouse rye which is 100 proof. For the citrus herbs I chose a dry gin and used dried cranberries.
So its quite easy from here. Now I wait for at least three weeks, shaking the bottles every other day to be sure the herbs macerate with the spirits.
